Let Your Light Shine

I know personally living in Ohio it is a good day when the sun is shining the WHOLE day. It always places me in such a better mood. The weather here is unpredictable and you never know what season you will wake up to, so the days where the sun is shining brightly and there is a clear sky, those are the good days. There is something about the sun that brings a smile on my face. I am sure most people would say they prefer the sunshine over gloomy rainy days. It provides a warmth that I can't even describe. It shines a beautiful ray of light down from the sky onto my skin and it makes me feel content. Suns are usually used to describe positivity. The last couple of days in Ohio have been full of sunshine and I've loved every second of it. It got me thinking, how often do we act as a sun for Jesus. What do I mean by that? I mean how often do we shine for Jesus? How often do we let the light of Jesus shine through us? I know personally if I think about every day for the last week, there were moments in my life where Jesus' light wasn't shining brightly through me. There were times when I was quick to anger. There were times I was not patient behind the wheel. There were times at work I got frustrated and snappy with those around me. There were times where all I was giving off was gloominess instead of sunshine. We are human and it's bound to happen from time to time, so don't beat up on yourself if it does. But I want to encourage you to wake up each and every day and tell yourself that today you are going to let Jesus' light shine through you to those around you. Just like the sunshine, it will bring about happiness in others. When you start treating others with rays of sunshine, it will bring about smiles on not only their faces but also on your own. I know you know the feeling you get when you know you've made someone happy or smile. It's such a good feeling. Allow Jesus to shine so brightly through you that you can't help but let it shine upon others. Make other people who don't know Jesus notice your light shining and wonder what it is that you have that they don't. Make them want that light to shine through them. Make them want to know Jesus the way you do so that they can allow Jesus' light to shine through them upon others. I wake up every day with the intention of allowing God's light to shine through me onto others every minute of every day I am alive. God's light shines even brighter than the sun. God's light brings more happiness than the sun. It's the best light you can experience. It's the light that can conquer the darkness. It's the light that can overcome depression and anxiety. It's the light that can overcome suicide and make you want to live. It's the light that can overcome any addiction. It's the light that can overcome your past. It's the light that will guide you where you need to go NO MATTER WHAT. It's the light that can make you whole again if you allow it to. I pray you allow God's light to shine upon you and through you onto those around you. If you don't know Jesus and don't know the light I am talking about, I encourage you to do this. Pray to God to show you the light. Pray to God to come into your life and shine a light upon your darkness. Allow God to bring rays of sunshine and life into you. It will be the best decision you will ever make. I know it was the decision that saved my life.
