The song lyrics "I wanna be tried by fire, purified, You take whatever You desire, Lord here's my life" have been stuck in my head all day. Sometimes I think we sing worship songs and sing the words, but sometimes don't stop to think about what the song is really saying. Just take a moment and read over those song lyrics one more time. "I wanna be tried by fire, purified, You take whatever You desire, Lord here's my life". Such powerful lyrics. The whole song is filled with lyrics just like these. Powerful. I love how the song is speaking to God, the lyrics are saying take whatever YOU desire. You see, it's not saying take whatever I desire for You to take God. It's not saying Lord I am willing to give you some things, but not all of them. Not the ones I don't want to lose. The lyrics are saying, God here is EVERYTHING I have, take WHATEVER You desire. Whatever You desire, meaning a friendship. Whatever You desire, meaning a job. Whatever, meaning income. Whatever, meaning a relationship. Whatever, meaning ANY AND EVERYTHING in our lives. Sometimes it's hard to have that mindset with God. Sometimes you don't want to let God take WHATEVER He desires, only what you want him to desire. It's not easy losing a friend. It's not easy seeing a relationship not work out. It's not easy not having the income you need to buy the things you need and want. It's hard. But when we have the mindset of "Lord, everything I have is Yours. Lord, everything I have in my life is because You have given it to me. Lord, everything I own is because You allowed me to have it", then when we lose those things, we have nothing to fear. You see when we switch our mindset from the things I have are because of myself, to the things I have are blessings from the Father that He did not have to provide for me, but He did so out of love, it changes things. When we start to desire the same things that God desires, it doesn't matter what God takes away from our lives, because we want the same things He does for our lives. Now, I am not going to tell you that having that mindset is easy, because some of the things God takes from our lives are extremely hard losses. It could be a loved one. It could be your job and you have a family to support. It could be someone you planned a future with, someone you thought you'd spend forever with. It could be a friend you've had for years. It could be a roof from over your head. Those are hard losses. Those are losses that can affect your life dramatically. But when God does take things from your life and you have the mindset of "You take whatever you desire, Lord here's my life" you are not only aligning your desires with The Father, but you are also trusting in Him to get you through whatever fires may come your way. When you are "tried by fire" and you trust Him in the midst of the flames, you come out refined. Refined can be defined on google as "the process of purification of a substance". He purifies you through allowing you to go through the fires in life. You come out able to praise the Lord because He is good. If you've been keeping up with my blogs or know my testimony, you know I have been tried by fires in my life. Fires that I tried to put out alone. Fires that I stood in without God. Fires that have tested my mental health. Fires that have resulted in burns and losses. But, if you know me, I have also been through fires where I stand in the midst of the flames with my hands in the air praising God and thanking Him for allowing me to go through those fires with Him directly by my side, and praising God and giving thanks when I have made it through the fires. "I wanna be tried by fires, purified, You take WHATEVER YOU desire, Lord here's my life". I want to wake up every single day with this mindset. Lord, take it all. Have it all. It is all Yours, and the only reason I have it is because You have blessed my life with it. If You want it, it's Your's God. I am going to praise You through the losses in life and I am going to come out of the fires, purified in Your Holy name. I want to encourage you to do the same. I want you to change the mindset of "my desires" versus God's desires for your life. I want you to have the mindset of God if these are the desires You have for my life, those are MY desires for my life as well. Lord, if You want to take it, you can have it ALL and I will praise you throughout the whole process. There is another set of lyrics in the song that says "You're a fire, the refiner, I wanna be consumed". If you've ever seen a house fire, you know what the fire consumes everything inside of the house. It takes control of everything inside the house. It is hard to tame a fire once it has started to consume all of the home. I want my life to be the same. I want God to be the fire that consumes my life. The fire that ignites and takes over. The fire that is so strong inside of me, that it cannot be tamed. The fire that spreads to everything around it. That's the kind of life I want to live. That's the kind of life I want you to live. That's the kind of life that I want the world to know. I want the world to experience the fire that it Jesus Christ and allow it to dwell inside each of our lives and allow it to consume us completely and spread to those around us naturally.
The song I am mentioning is called Refiner by Maverick City. It's an amazing song. The whole song is filled with powerful lyrics. Take the time to truly listen word for word to the song. Make it a true song of worship to the Father. Allow God to take your life and let it burn as a sacrifice for His glory and Honor.
I love you guys. As always, I am always here if you need someone. I want to grow with you. I want to grow closer to God with you. I want to see you all in Heaven one day. I want to Fellowship with you. I want to be tried by fire with you and come out purified and praising the Father. Until next time, xoxo.
